Condolence & Memory Journal

So sorry to read the news in the paper on Saturday. Our family knew Father Des first as a seminarian student when with Father Lawrence Walsh who was also a pastor in our parish in the past. He will be sadly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Crotty family. A Haydel member of the family attended the very moving ceremonies on Monday.

Uncle Des,

We miss you so much but are so proud of what you did for so many people while on earth. So much wonderful work which none of us knew about.

You are definitely in heaven now and have been reunited with Granny and Grandad and the others who have gone before you.

Love, Aoife

It was with great sadness that I informed my two daughters, both graduates of St. Mary's Dominican High, of the passing of Fr. Crotty. They remembered with great fondness the positive and loving impression that Fr. Crotty left on all of the girls at Dominican through his homilies, his constant messages of always serving the Lord and one another, loving each other, and living a Christ-like existence. As a parent, I will always carry fond memories of Fr. Crotty's involvement at Dominican, and how much he enjoyed the service he shared with our children, as well as those of us who were so blessed to have been in his presence. May perpetual light shine upon him always. My love and sympathy to your family during this great loss.

What can you really say about a man who would have been huely successful in any endeavor in life, including many in which he no doubt would have attained wealth, fame, or power, but instead chose the priesthood!
I have many fond memories of when he first came to SFA before I graduated in 1971 (he left and returned a few years later) and over the years. His death is a loss to those who knew him.

Father, you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. You had a major impact on everyone's life that you came in contact with especially the girls at St. Mary's Dominican High School. You saw life in a totally different way in which young people were able to understand what living actually was about through the eyes of God. May God bless you and your family to help them get through this tragic time in their lives. We all loved you with all our hearts and souls; Rest in Peace.
