On Friday September 9, 2016 we lost Theresa Leiker Mahony, 59, born February 8, 1957. Theresa was the beloved wife of Kevin Mahony, the best mom in the world to Hazel Mahony, best friend and confidant to sister Nickomus Leiker and brother-in-law Wesley Schmidt, and cherished matriarch to Corey Leiker, Toby and Michelle Leiker and their son Gabriel, and all her friends and family members.

After growing up in Buras, LA with her family, she made New Orleans her home and graduated with a BA in English from UNO. Theresa worked in the hospitality industry at Que Sera in her early years and went on to become a general manager of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse for many years. Later, she worked as a trainer at Compeat Restaurant Software followed by Doyle Land Service and Upperline Energy Partners.

Theresa had an exuberance for life. She was a costumer at Mardi Gras, an animal lover, a devoted gardener, an avid reader, and was always ready to entertain friends at the drop of a hat. Theresa had a passion for cooking and loved to share her meals with her fortunate friends and family. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Martha and Richard Leiker Sr., her brothers, Richard Leiker Jr., Raymond Leiker, half-brother Steve Martin and half-sister Nancy Martin. She is survived by her half-sister, Debbie Harris, her beloved fur-baby Bowser, and many other extended family members that she loved dearly. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 3PM. Visitation will be held from 2:00PM till 4:00PM.
