Born in New Orleans on April 30, 1924. Daughter of the late Marguerite Donaghey Alexander and George Albert Alexander; sibling of the late Lillian Alexander Peterson and the late James Robert Alexander.

Resident of New Orleans all her life; lived in Carrollton, Gentilly, “old” Metairie, Little Farms and “new” Metairie.

Attended Robert E. Lee grade school, graduated from McMain High School.

Married Matt Miller in 1944 and worked with him as a consultant in the hearing aid business and later as secretary / jack-of-all-trades in the hand cleaner business.

Helen was adventurous; she caught a 109 lb. swordfish on a fishing excursion near Acapulco, Mexico, which occupied a place of honor on the wall in the Miller home for over 40 years; she acted in the movie “JFK” as the receptionist for Jim Garrison (played by Kevin Costner); she competed in the TV game show “Concentration” in New York City and won many prizes including trips to Hawaii, the Grand Canyon, Washington DC, Boston, and Los Angeles; she was as an active member of the Krewe of Iris for 36 years, and for a number of years made annual visits to New York City for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Special appreciation to long-time next door neighbor Barbara Manning; and also to Debra Martin, Darlene Upton and Sue Solano who provided special care to Helen in her later years.

Helen was generous and kind to all she knew and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family members.
