Edwin (Eddie) Benedic Gras Jr. Aged 71 years, born in New Orleans, a longtime resident of Metairie and current resident of Covington, Louisiana passed peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by his family, at his home on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 12:34 am.



Eddie was the beloved and devoted husband of Georgia Armand Gras, and they would celebrate 46 years of sacred marriage.

Edwin (Eddie) Benedic Gras Jr. Aged 71 years, born in New Orleans, a longtime resident of Metairie and current resident of Covington, Louisiana passed peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by his family, at his home on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 12:34 am.



Eddie was the beloved and devoted husband of Georgia Armand Gras, and they would celebrate 46 years of sacred marriage.



He was the loving and committed father of one son, Christian Gras (Stephanie) and proud grandfather of Taylor Rae Hebert. He was preceded in death by his father Edwin Benedic Gras Sr. and mother Mary Francis Fitzpatrick Gras.



The admiring brother-in-law of Tim Armand (Cheryl) and Byron Armand (Kathy). Adored uncle to a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Eddie was affectionate to many.



He retired from Western and Southern Life Insurance and Security Industrial Insurance Company after a long and successful career as an outstanding insurance salesman. A former parishioner of St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church and St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.



Eddie was an avid lover of classic muscle cars and the proud owner of his prized 1969 Camaro, which he enjoyed displaying at classic car shows for many years and attended Cruisin the Coast annually for over 20 years.



The family would like to extend their gratitude to all medical professionals who assisted in his care particularly IMG Physicians, Johnny Brown with Natural Touch Sitting Service Inc. and the nurses, staff and administration of AmeraCare Family Hospice. He will be greatly missed by many.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave., Metairie, Louisiana 70003 on Thursday, January 11, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will follow visitation.



A private burial service will be planned for a later date.
