Burton Joseph Faucheux, age 86, went peacefully to Heaven on Friday, June 9th, 2017, surrounded by his cherished wife, children and grandchildren. Born in Hahnville, LA Burton (“Burt”) graduated from S.J. Peters High School in New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He studied business at Loyola University in New Orleans and, after many years in the insurance business, founded and was co-owner of Marine Insurance Services based in Metairie, LA. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, the Mariners Club and an active member of Divine Mercy Parish in Kenner where he served for many years as an usher. A lifelong sports fan, Burt enjoyed and played baseball, bowling, tennis and golf, which he took up after retirement, at Chateau Estates Country Club where he was a member for many years. He followed local football and was lifelong fan of the New Orleans Saints.

Burt’s life was an inspiration to all who were blessed to know him. He saw good in every person he met, and always kept a positive outlook, even in challenging times. His humble Catholic faith sustained him throughout his life and he was a profound witness to everyone. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years Evelyn; children Brian (Suzy), Dale (Karen) and Dianne (George); seven grandchildren Paul, Kenneth (Joy), Marc (Robin), Michelle (Keith), Marie (Jonathan), Rayne (Marc), and Andrew; two great-grandchildren Luke and Charlotte Dardis and sister Connie Faucheux Doyle (Mark Jr.), along with a host of special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel Paul Faucheux and Sidney Barre Faucheux and sisters Geraldine Marie Faucheux and Marcella Faucheux Barrios.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. William Rolston III for his loving care and friendship for over 30 years and to the caring doctors and staff at East Jefferson General Hospital.

A private family service was held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Mass enrollments or donations to a charity of choice may be made in his memory.

The family invites you to share fond memories, thoughts and condolences on the Family Guest Book at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
